Your Welcoming Hosts
David met Anja in Wellington while he was working at the then Rural Bank and Anja was working as a graphic artist. After a whirlwind romance they married and moved back to the family farm on Corbett Road in Hikutaia. David's father Patrick and his brother Lawrence were running the farm at the time. David and Anja bought a herd of predominantly Jersey cows and slowly moved into the business, eventually taking over the dairy farm. For the next 35 years they brought up their three children and many dogs and pets on the Corbett family farm.
David has a love of all things historic and is very proud of his lovingly restored 1934 Chevrolet truck. Anja is an artist and enjoys being a homemaker, among other interests. Both David and Anja have travelled extensively both overseas and in New Zealand. The Corbetts have always had an interest in horse racing and David continues this tradition today. When the opportunity to purchase Corbett House arose both David and Anja felt the time was right for a new adventure. They are an animal loving family and share it with two semi-retired farm dogs, Lola and Ollie as well as three smaller dogs, Charlie, Luna and Bowie. David and Anja have retained their runoff block and presently have beef stock there. They also have a lease block in Hikutaia. They are thrilled to be able to reconnect with Corbett House since it has been approximately 40 years since any Corbetts have lived there.
